The world of Skyrim is packed with quests, from epic adventures to the downright trivial. While many offer rich rewards or deep lore, some feel like complete wastes of time—menial tasks with little payoff or purpose. Here’s a list of the 5 most pointless quests in Skyrim, ranked by how little they contribute to the overall experience:

Here is the Top 5 Most Pointless Skyrim Quests:

1. Bringing Frost Salts to Arcadia

Arcadia skyrim

  • Quest Giver: Arcadia, the alchemist in Whiterun

  • Objective: Bring Arcadia a sample of Frost Salts.

  • Why It’s Pointless: This radiant quest has no significant payoff. Arcadia simply gives you a handful of low-value potions, which aren’t particularly useful by the time you get around to this quest. It’s a fetch quest in the most literal and uninspired sense, with no lore or meaningful interaction attached.

2. "Get Me Some Nightshade" (Miscellaneous)

Muiri Hags Cure Markarth Skyrim

  • Quest Giver: Muiri in Markarth (or other alchemy shop NPCs)

  • Objective: Deliver a single ingredient, like Nightshade, to an NPC.

  • Why It’s Pointless: Not only is this a task you can complete by randomly grabbing an ingredient you might already have, but the reward (a small handful of gold) makes the effort feel completely inconsequential. There’s no real story or character development tied to it, just busywork.

3. The Love Triangle (Dragonborn DLC)

Geldris Sadri Retching Netch Skyrim

  • Quest Giver: Geldis Sadri, Raven Rock’s innkeeper

  • Objective: Deliver Sadri’s Sujamma to three NPCs in Raven Rock.

  • Why It’s Pointless: The only goal here is to hand out drinks to NPCs, which has no impact on your reputation or relationships. The reward is minimal, and the quest itself feels like filler content to pad the Dragonborn DLC. You’re essentially a glorified bartender for a few minutes.

4. Fishing Jobs from Delvin Mallory

Delvin Mallory Ragged Flagon Skyrim

  • Quest Giver: Delvin Mallory, Thieves Guild

  • Objective: Pickpocket a specific item from a random NPC.

  • Why It’s Pointless: These radiant Thieves Guild quests are tedious and repetitive. While they contribute to becoming the Guildmaster if you complete enough, the fishing jobs themselves feel like busywork with little excitement. They lack the thrill of actual heists or meaningful story progression.

5. "Find 20 Jazbay Grapes"

Avrusa Sarethi Sarethi Farm Skyrim

  • Quest Giver: Avrusa Sarethi, Sarethi Farm

  • Objective: Collect 20 Jazbay Grapes for a farmer.

  • Why It’s Pointless: Finding 20 Jazbay Grapes is more tedious than it sounds, as the grapes are scattered across Skyrim’s landscape and don’t respawn quickly. The reward for this time-consuming task? A few free crops from her farm. Hardly worth the effort, unless you’re obsessed with clearing your journal.

These quests highlight the more menial, inconsequential side of Skyrim’s quest design. While some of them can add flavor to the world, their lack of meaningful rewards or story makes them feel like a waste of time for most players.
